Jab, Jab, Jab, Right Hook: How to Tell Your Story in a Noisy Social World by Gary Vaynerchuck
Gary Vee gives great advice on how to use each social media channel to give, give, give (aka jab, jab, jab) to your audience, then make the sale (right hook). Lather, rinse, repeat. My takeaway: Keep the right balance in your social media efforts; you can’t just sell, sell, sell to people. They’ll tune you out or turn you off.
#GIRLBOSS by Sophia Amoruso
You may have heard of this book recently due to the popular Netflix series "#Girlboss" that was recently released. This is the book that the show is (very loosely) based on. It's a rags to riches story about a lost youth who follows her passion, becomes successful because she doesn’t take shortcuts and treats her customers like friends, and now sounds a bit melancholy that her level of success removes her from the day-to-day running of her clothing business. My takeaway: Be careful what you wish for. Getting too big can take all the fun out of it.
The War of Art by Steven Pressfield
A classic and must-read for all creative entrepreneurs. My takeaway: All artists (writers, photographers, creative types …) face Resistance; we must defeat it and this is book tells you how.
If you read any of these books, I’d love to hear your reviews!
